How can
a World War II
flight engineer
use a thermos
of coffee to land
a flak riddled
18-ton B-17 bomber?

Read how
Warren Van Denplas
overcame extreme
war conditions and lived
to tell about it.

As a personal friend of a quickly fading breed of heroes, World War II veterans, I sensed a necessity to record the experiences and testimony of Warren Van Denplas. I spent many hours listening to Van explain the preparation for military service, the mentality of US military servicemen, and the fortitude needed to survive in desperate Nazi POW situations.

Unlike many war stories, A March to Liberation is not a book of “guts and glory” but a memoir of Van’s faith in the promises of a little book he carried with him, a government issued New Testament.
